Streets Ahead are honoured to introduce a town house in Alexander Crescent, Caterham-on-the Hill, within the walls of the former Guards Barracks development known as 'The Village'.

It comprises an extremely spacious, three storey family residence. On the ground floor the accommodation comprises an entrance lobby, study bedroom, WC and utility room, a good sized, open-plan kitchen-dining room and double glazed conservatory which both overlook the well proportioned garden, giving the home a relaxed, calm and spacious feel.

On the first floor, there is a very attractive, balconied drawing room overlooking the well-maintained, landscaped grounds central to the crescent and two generously sized double bedrooms which look out to the rear garden.

On the top floor, the bright, high ceilinged, master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and built in wardrobes. A large walk-in loft room for storage completes the accommodation. A number of other properties on the development have had roof windows fitted to the store room.

Externally, to the front of the property, there is a landscaped, maintained gated garden for the use of the residents and, down a private driveway, a double garage and pathway access to the rear garden.

The property forms part of this unique, highly sought after crescent on this award winning development and is close to areas of outstanding natural beauty and open countryside including the Surrey Hills, Coulsdon Common, the North Downs and the Happy Valley which enjoy many footpaths and bridle ways for walking and riding. The Surrey National golf course is within a quarter mile by road but runs alongside the bridle path which skirts 'The Village'.

Tesco, a modern doctor's surgery, vets and gym are all conveniently close within the project. There are a number of local restaurants including The Ark, The Harrow, The Fox and The Fleeting Brook.

There is a selection of schools for children of all ages locally including an excellent nursery on the development and the popular Caterham Schools in the valley and de Stafford on the hill.

More shopping and business activities can be found in Caterham Valley which is accessible by foot, a 20 minute walk, car or the local, dedicated bus services that run through 'The Village'. Trains from Caterham Station run into East Croydon and the London terminals. Coulsdon South Station is a 30 minute train ride to Victoria. There are two access junctions for the M25 motorway both within a 20 minute drive to facilitate wider regional journeys and provide access to the south coast. Brighton is just under an hour away.

Generally the locality is a great place to live. Call now to book a viewing before someone else does!

Local Information

Unusually for a town of its size, Coulsdon has just one pub in its centre – The Pembroke – which has an extensive food menu. However, café culture is in abundance and many have outdoor terraces. The town also has a great choice of restaurants.

There’s DD’s Café, Valley Café and Café Oasis serving breakfast/brunch and lunch, as well as popular chain Caffe Nero. Urban Fuse is tucked away in a side street but its pretty window seats, beamed ceiling and delicious home-made food mean people seek it out.

Nonna Rosa’s is an Italian delicafé with ciabattas, focaccias, paninis, lasagne, fagiolata and parmigiana all on the menu. The popular I Calabresi Deli is also Italian and as well as coffee and fine food, from panettoni and limoncello to croissants and custard tarts, it offers Italian classes, a book club and a knitting club. Italian eateries also feature prominently in the evening economy.   La Scarpetta has a contemporary interior (modern art, plants and illuminated wall displays) and sources many of the ingredients for its home-made pizzas and pastas from Southern Italy.

Wood & Stone makes its pizzas from scratch and cooks them in a wood-fired oven. As well as the classics, its quirky offerings include Nutella pizzas topped with strawberry, banana or pineapple.

Mirch Masala’s tandoori grill – lamb chops, lamb and chicken tikka, kebabs –  has a good reputation.  The nearby Thai Venue oozes style and offers classic favourites (green curry, pad thai noodles, spicy beef salad) as well as chef’s specials such as volcano chicken, soaked in brandy at your table and set alight.

And finally, just outside the town centre is Coulsdon Manor hotel and golf club. Here, the Manor House restaurant offers fine dining while light meals and afternoon tea are served all day in the Orangery.
